The various venues are now in final planning phase, with
currently nine events included. This may change over the coming month(s), but the
outline below looks like the making of a great series. A map of Cumbria gives a
rough idea of where the event is based. Closer to the date of the event the
various details will be published.
As usual seven different courses will be offered at each event, all colour coded, from the easiest Yellow, to the most technically challenging Brown. Anyone is welcome to come along. The courses are Yellow, Orange, Lt Green, Short Green, Green, Blue and Brown. Parking is usually in a large field, with a central point for registration for the course you wish to try. Entry fees are very reasonable, probably £5/6 per senior and £3 per junior. The events will all use SPORTident electronic punching, which gives you a quick result when you finish with a printout of your progress around the course. Newcomers regularly turn up at these events and are helped by friends or other orienteers to get started. If you would like some help/information then EMAIL and your query will be answered or passed on to a club. Individuals receive a score at each event so long as they belong to a Cumbrian O Club, with the winner getting 99, decreasing by one point down the results. The best five scores for an individual will generate the overall score for that competitor. A club score is the best five scores by individual club members on each of the seven colour coded courses, yellow, orange, light green, short green, green, blue and brown. Competitors running as a pair won't receive any galoppen points. The league is maintained by Jon Eaton (WCOC) in 2013. 2013 Series of Events 1 24th FEB WCOC
